crowd and the quick pace of the holy rabbi, her hand only grazes Him, and only her fingers faintly catch the “fringe of his garment” (Lk. 8:44). Although she fails to catch hold of the holy man, the woman finds herself in the grip of grace, and her hemorrhaging is healed. For it is her faith, and not simply her fingers, that brush up against the source of grace. It is likely that many of the multitude touched Jesus that day, as Peter noted. But the grace and power of Jesus “went forth” (cf. Lk. 8:46)
